Less than 2 weeks remain before our 25th birthday blowout! Come join us at our north location (4100 Duval Rd.) for a fun-filled trip down memory lane. Get down to funky Motown favorites courtesy of Austin’s own Matchmaker Band. We chose AustinABC South at a friends recommendation. My wife, Korrine does not like the enviroment of the hospital. We enjoyed being able to ask questions of the midwife in a relaxed, informal atmosphere at the prenatal visits. We found the tips given in the breastfeeding class to be helpful.

In labor, our midwife , Michelle Reynolds, CNM did a fabulous job. It was like being in a very nice hotel and the comfort factor made it easier for Korrine to focus and meditate. It was wonderful to be able to be with our son every minute after he was born without someone taking him away. It was wonderful to have one midwife taking care of the mother in an intimate and friendly manner. There were no strangers coming in and out and interrupting her focus.

Afterwards, the birth assistant, Meg, made us feel at home and allowed us to stay overnight. She did not rush us. We were very appreciative of her efforts to make us comfortable.

Also, Rene, RN came out for a home visit and follow-up. She listened patiently to all our questions and had answers for all of them as well as many useful tips. She even made herself available to us for questions by phone afterwards which we greatly appreciated.

It was just an all-out incredible comfortable, perfect birthing experience. We will recommend AustinABC South a thousand times over a hospital delivery.

AABC Voted Best Birth Center in Austin

AABC is proud to have been voted “Best Birthing Center” in the Central Texas Doula Association’s Mother-Friendly Birth Awards held in October. More than 4,000 Central Texans cast votes in the organization’s annual recognition event, organized in collaboration with the Get Babied! doula collective getbabied.com. As the organization says on its Website, “CTDA wants to recognize the Austin birth professionals that are going out of their way to provide quality care for the women of Austin. It’s the job of a doula to provide educational support to women throughout their childbearing years. A result of the yearly poll is a list of the best referrals for pregnancy care in Austin, selected and voted on by real people to determine the best and brightest mother-friendly birth professionals the city has to offer.”

We thank all the great doulas who work with our clients and are so grateful to all the people who voted for us. We will continue to strive to provide the best birthing experience possible and continue to earn the trust and confidence of so many mothers and their families.

AABC Fan Meets Ricki Lake in Paris

This sounds like it came straight out of a tabloid at the HEB: a friend of AABC midwife Leonora Colen is working in Paris (France) this summer and ran into actress and “The Business of Being Born” executive producer Ricki Lake. Ricki wondered how Leonora’s friend knew who she was, and the friend explained that Leonora works at this great birthing center in Austin and that she’d watched Ricki’s DVD. Ricki arranged to get this great photo to us.
